Alkira faced a communication challenge: how to clearly and warmly engage a diverse audience — including people with intellectual disabilities, their families, community members and sector partners — across a range of programs and publications. There was an urgent need for a consistent visual language that balanced accessibility with warmth and professionalism, and to encourage participation and genuine pride from within the Alkira community.
The 'Create your own monster' concept featuring kooky characters was devised for the Alkira Co-Design framework. This personality and humor transformed the process into an easy-to-read manual which has encouraged active engagement from both participants and facilitators. This program concept was designed to be fun, memorable and interactive, ensuring strong buy-in while allowing room for further development as the initiative evolves.
Taking a more graphic approach with the Alkira Connect newsletters, the new design concept extended the brand guidelines, creating an accessible and appealing read for featured Alkira participants who now proudly and easily identify themselves
The Alkir a annual report summary, which serves as a fold-out 70th anniversary commemorative poster, encapsulates key information clearly and concisely while maximising an inclusive, engaging and best of all - celebratory - 'look and feel'.
